If you hide it, they will eat it

Chances are, if you have ever had to give your dog pills – supplements or medication – it’s not an easy task. We like to get sneaky and hide pills in a piece of fresh bread, chunk of cheese or a sloppy piece of meat. Some dogs, however, are too wise and somehow manage to eat the treat and spit out the pill. Sound familiar? There’s a product that does an amazing job at hiding the pill and we’ve got the vibe on it.

The pill pocket vibe

Greenies, known for their dental chews, has come up with a nifty way to hide a pill or supplement. Greenies Pill Pockets are a nutritious, tasty treat that contain a built-in pocket to sneak in a pill. The pockets mask any hint of medicine.

Why we like it

Designed by veterinarians, the pill pockets really work. We’re currently using them to give our 13-year-old Lab Kasee her medication. She recently gave up most of her favourite foods. Fortunately, the pill pockets are a treat she will eat. We also like the fact that the treats are a source of vitamins C and E to promote a healthy immune system.

Where to find it

Greenies Pill Pockets are available in two flavours – chicken or beef – and are available in two sizes. We get our pockets from Vancouver Animal Wellness Hospital, but they are available at many vets and pet stores. Check out the Greenies’ store locator to find a store near you. By the way, you can get a free sample of a Greenies product. Check it out at www.greenies.com.
